![]() ![]() I myself have tried the new jailbreak at the iPhones I have access to (my 5S, and my families 4, 4S and 5), and I have to say, everything is working as good as at the latest version of the jailbreak for the iOS 7.0.x versions, if not even better. The jailbreak is very stable, compared to the initial evasi0n7 jailbreak, it seems to have a better ‘initial stability’ than the one for iOS 7.0.x. The PanGu jailbreak is of course an untethered one, which means one is able to reboot and shutdown ones device, without having to fear to end up in a boot loop, that would need a PC to fix it (this is the case with tethered and semi-tethered jailbreaks, like they exist and were used to jailbreak the iPhone 4 at iOS 7.1.x, months before the PanGu jailbreak was released). ![]() The core things are working though: Activator, MobileSubstrate (aka CydiaSubstrate), Winterboard (partly) and other bigger parts for a decent jailbroken iDevice, like the SubstrateSafeMode. Some things will render the device in a safemode loop, which requires the uninstallation of said faulty tweak, which can be re-installed after it got updated to work with iOS 7.1.x. This is not a problem, because the jailbreak was still fully functional and a patched english version is available by now.Ĭydia, which got a big and a few minor updates in the last few weeks, is fully compatible with iOS 7.1.x, which makes it easy to use, regardless of using the new iOS 7.1.x firmware or the older 7.0.x one.Īnother important fact is, that not all tweaks and system changes, that can be downloaded through Cydia, are compatible with iOS 7.1.x. It is worth to note that the initial release was only available in chinese, which made the application to show a lot of question marks, instead of chinese characters, due to missing asian language packages at most Windows operating systems. The PanGu jailbreak is otherwise clean: No spyware, no viruses and no other suspicious things. Said piracy store application is optional, so it can be selected to not be installed. If you installed it by default, then take a look at this reddit post, which can explain you in detail how to get rid of it, without restoring your device. Like with the previous jailbreak, Evasi0n7, the current jailbreak PanGu also had quite some controversy, since it has an option (checked by default, so uncheck it if you want a clean jailbreak) to install a piracy app store application, similar to the Install0us store that most people should be familiar with. The soon to be released iOS 7.1.2, which is already available for various carrier testers, should also be compatible, but Apple could add a few last minute changes, which could patch the jailbreak. Since that date it was impossible to jailbreak your iDevice, if it was running a newer firmware than the 7.0.6 version, the latest supported iOS version (once again, technically it worked up to iOS 7.1 beta 3, but betas expire, so they don’t count) of the Evasi0n7 jailbreak… Until now!Ī chinese group, known as the PanGu team, released their jailbreak tool, called PanGu, which is able to jailbreak any kind of iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, if said device is running iOS 7.1 or iOS 7.1.1. ![]() ![]() The cat-and-mouse game continued up to iOS 7.0.6 (technically up to iOS 7.1 beta 3), until Apple finally patched the publicly available jailbreak method, 2 months (!) after its initial release. ![]()
